เนื่องจากม่านตาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของร่างกายมนุษย์ เป็นส่วนที่มีความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ในแต่ละบุคคล ซึ่งสามารถนำมาใช้ระบุตัวตนของบุคคล และแยกความต่างระหว่างบุคคลได้ ด้วยความเป็นเอกลักษณ์นี้เอง ทำให้การนำม่านตามาใช้มีความน่าเชื่อถือ และมีความถูกต้องแม่นยำ
โดยโครงงาน Iris Feature Detection and Matching นี้ ได้นำเสนอการบ่งชี้ความเป็นตัวตน ของบุคคล และแยกความแตกต่างระหว่างบุคคลโดยใช้ม่านตา ซึ่งโครงงานนี้ ประกอบด้วย การนำ ภาพม่านตามาระบุตำแหน่งบริเวณที่เป็นรูม่านตา โดยใช้ Hough Circle Transform จากนั้นทำการนอมัลไลซ์ภาพม่านตา เพื่อนำไปสกัดคุณลักษณะ และนำไปสู่กระบวนการจับคู่ภาพม่านตา โดยการใช้ SURF ซึ่งผลที่ได้จะเห็นถึงความแตกต่างระหว่างภาพม่านตาที่มาจากตาเดียวกัน และที่มาจากคนละตา
Iris is part of the human body representing a unique of individual that can be used to person identification; to separate the difference between individuals. With a unique symbol, Iris is reliable and accurate for people identification process.
This project proposes person identification and recognition of individuals using iris. The project consists of Iris localization, to localize pupil by using a Hough Circle Transform. Then, Iris normalization is needed for preparing image, as preprocessing of iris features extraction. The extracted features of iris are matched by using SURF technique, which can result the difference between one from other eyes.
